In an effort to actively implement the municipal leadership's directive for Tianjin Haihe Design Group (hereinafter referred to as "the Group") to strive for becoming a "world-class enterprise," fully advance the Group's "14th Five-Year" development strategy, further consolidate the Group's operational layout of "based in Tianjin, serving the nation, and expanding internationally," and promote high-quality "going-out" initiatives among its member units, the Group convened its second International Business Exchange Meeting on the afternoon of February 2, 2024. The meeting was presided over by Hu Jiang, Minister of the Development Coordination Department of the Group, with the attendance of nearly 100 participants, including Zhao Jianwei, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Group, Yu Lijun, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager, as well as relevant leaders and business elites from various member units.

During the meeting, Peng Hao, Deputy Director of the International Business Department of the Municipal Engineering Institute, first provided a detailed introduction to the overall situation and current development of China's foreign contracted engineering business, analyzing the necessity and urgency of the Group's international business expansion in light of national policies, industry trends, and the Group's strategies. Taking the international business development journey of the Municipal Engineering Institute as an example, he shared years of experience and achievements in this field. Based on this, he conducted a thorough analysis of the Group's current international business development status from five dimensions: global infrastructure development consensus, infrastructure construction demand, regional cooperation policy dividends, domestic policy support, and the Group's strengths and weaknesses. Meanwhile, through benchmarking the internationalization process of two peer design groups in the industry, he comprehensively discussed strategies for further expanding the Group's international business. Finally, he outlined the Group's future work priorities in international business, focusing on steadily advancing the international business process and improving internal management.

Subsequently, Yang Nan, Deputy Dean of the Fourth Design and Research Institute of the Municipal Engineering Institute, and Li Ji, Deputy Director of the International Business Department, respectively shared the contract fulfillment processes of international projects in different regions, using examples such as the Athana Water Plant Project in Sri Lanka and the New Sava Bridge Project in Serbia. Through project documentaries, work achievements, and photos, they vividly showcased the bittersweet yet inspiring moments during the development of international business. During the presentation, Li Ji shared his understanding and application of European standards in the execution of the New Sava Bridge Project in Serbia, as well as his experience and reflections in undertaking overseas EPC projects.

After the presentations, relevant leaders from various member units expressed that the meeting was highly inspiring. They vowed to actively deploy international business according to the Group's "14th Five-Year" Plan, strengthen internal capabilities, make adequate preparations, address shortcomings, enhance cooperation and exchanges with other units within the Group, jointly expand international business channels, and collaboratively plan for "going out."

General Manager Yu Lijun fully acknowledged the preparatory work for this international business exchange meeting and emphasized four aspects. Firstly, he stressed the importance of long-term commitment, suggesting that the Group should continue to hold international business exchange meetings, taking the international project cases of the Municipal Engineering Institute as a good starting point, and inviting more member units to participate and share, as well as incorporating perspectives from legal, financial, and safety aspects. Secondly, he emphasized the need for practical action, urging all member units to recognize that developing international business is a significant strategic consideration for the Group's future and to translate "serving the nation" into "serving the world" through concrete actions. Thirdly, he called for a long-term perspective, urging all member units to increase investment in international business and cultivate a professional team with an international vision. Lastly, he emphasized proactive actions, urging all member units to collaborate, assist each other, jointly venture overseas, and actively build a new system for the group's international business development, striving for significant breakthroughs in the Group's international business in the new year.

Chairman Zhao Jianwei shared three sentiments regarding this meeting. Firstly, due to seven pressing needs, namely, the expansion of the Group's new business development space, fostering new types of productive forces, building a world-class enterprise, contributing to Tianjin's goal of becoming a design hub, enhancing the intelligence level of modern enterprises, broadening horizons, and strengthening strategic guidance, Haihe Design Group must resolutely "go global." Secondly, all member entities of the Group, based on collaborative and interconnected development, must clarify their goals and positioning for "going global," enhance their capabilities for international expansion, and address the challenges associated with it. Thirdly, all member entities should shift their mindsets, build consensus, and proactively collaborate to promote the Group's international business expansion. By aligning with national strategies, they should fully leverage but not be constrained by their own business strengths, proactively plan and develop the necessary personnel, leadership, organizations, mechanisms, and platforms for international operations, thereby better participating in international project competitions and expanding into international markets.
